Your San Francisco Giants?
The team that took the field in game seven of the World Series for the Giants last year is apparently no more. Brian Sabean told reporters yesterday that we've seen the last of Rich Aurilia, J.T. Snow, Benito Santiago, as well as Sidney Ponson, Jose Cruz, Jr. and Felix Rodriguez. That means only Barry Bonds will be the only regular from last year's team to return.

That might not be so bad if the team hadn't traded their future in the Ponson deal, giving up both Damian Moss and Kurt Ainsworth for Serve-It-Up Sid. After Jesse Foppert's elbow and Jerome Williams's psyche exploded, the Giants seem to be fresh out of the bevy of great arms they had collected.

With an improved Padres squad, and an always powerful Dodgers team lurking, could this mean a battle royale with the aging D'Backs for third place in '04?

Yeah, it's really rough to have four World Championship banners flying in Oakland since the last time the Cubs went to a series and the Red Sox have dropped two Fall Classics in, how shall we say, frustrating fashion.

It sucks to lose in the way the A's have, but comparing the team's pain to the Red Sox is like comparing a cat scratch to Montecore's revenge.
