Giant Move
The Giants paid a high price, but apparently got what they believe they needed in Sidney Ponson, a shut down right handed starter. In essence, they traded Kurt Ainsworth and Russ Ortiz for Ponson.
It's not Javier Vazquez, but it'll do. The Giants rotation now looks set with Schmidt, Reuter, Ponson, Williams and Foppert. Beats the hell out of Damian Moss and Jim Brower, who got knocked around by the Cubs today.
Update: Reuter was a late scratch in the game today, probably putting more pressure of Brian Sabean to make a deal.

Moneybawl
There has been talk that Billy Beane isn't getting the trades he wants as payback for the way he belittled general managers in Moneyball. Beane found a way to get around that by trading with someone who wasn't a GM during the timespan the book was written. He pulled the trigger with Reds COO John Allen to get Jose Guillen for Aaron Harang, closer-in-waiting Joe Valentine, and former Stanford Cardinal standout, Jeff Bruksch. All the talk about GM payback seems a bit silly. By next year, nobody will remember Moneyball. And the real reason Beane didn't get Brian Giles is because the A's can't take on any payroll in the form of Jason Kendall.

How Exactly Do You Do That?
The Colorado Rockies have the second best home record in baseball. They also own the worst road record in the National League, and only trail the Devil Rays and Tigers for worst road record in the majors. Are they changing teams when they go on the road?
